Functional Medicine is a personalized, science-based approach to healthcare that seeks to identify and address the root causes of illness rather than simply managing symptoms. By considering your health history, lifestyle, nutrition, environment, genetics, and advanced laboratory testing, functional medicine looks beyond a diagnosis to understand why symptoms are occurring and creates a personalized plan to restore balance and support long-term health.
At Thompson Chiropractic, Dr. Jessica's clinical focus is gut health, hormones, and preconception wellness. Because the gut influences everything from hormones and immune function to energy, mood, and inflammation, many chronic health concerns begin with restoring these foundational systems.

Is Functional Medicine Right for You?
Functional Medicine is best suited for individuals who are ready to take an active role in their health. This approach is designed to uncover potential root causes of symptoms—not simply manage them—and requires a commitment of time, curiosity, and consistency. While many patients experience meaningful improvements in their health, there are no quick fixes or one-size-fits-all solutions.
Our goal isn't to promise a cure—it's to better understand your body, identify factors that may be contributing to your symptoms, and develop a personalized plan that supports your body's ability to function at its best. Functional Medicine is a collaborative process that focuses on creating a strong foundation for long-term health and empowering you with a deeper understanding of your body.

The Process
Initial Interest
We’ll start by discussing your health goals and the commitment required to ensure this process is a good fit for you. Our aim is to ensure functional medicine aligns with your unique needs and expectations.
Schedule Intake Appointment
Once we’ve had an initial conversation, we’ll schedule your first appointment. The cost of the Functional Medicine package is due at the time of booking, which covers the first intake appointment and one follow-up visit. Within 24 hours of booking, you’ll receive a link to complete your functional medicine intake forms. Dr. Jessica is invested in your functional medicine journey! To ensure she is fully prepared for your time together, intake forms must be completed at least one week prior to your appointment. If the forms are not submitted in time, we will reach out to reschedule. This process allows her to review your health history thoroughly and thoughtfully craft a personalized plan.
Complete Intake Forms
You’ll fill out the functional medicine intake forms, providing a comprehensive overview of your medical history, any previous lab results, and your health goals. This will provide a clear picture of where you are now and where you want to go.
First Appointment (1 Hour)
During your first visit, Dr. Jessica will review your medical history, address any initial findings, and may perform a physical exam based on your health history. She’ll take time to discuss your health goals and outline any necessary next steps, including additional testing if needed.
Complete Lab Testing
If further testing is recommended after your first consultation, we’ll guide you through the process of completing the lab work or tests.
Review Results
Once your test results are available, Dr. Jessica will review them in detail. We’ll reach out to schedule an in-person follow-up visit to go over the findings and next steps.
Follow-Up Appointment (30 minutes)
In this appointment, Dr. Jessica will explain your test results, provide insights into what they mean, and walk you through your customized treatment plan—which may include recommendations for supplements, diet, lifestyle changes, exercise, and more.
Ongoing Support & Progress Check-Ins
Depending on your goals, we’ll touch base periodically and may schedule follow-up visits to monitor your progress and make any necessary adjustments to your treatment plan. Additional 30-minute follow-up appointments are available at a reduced rate beyond the initial package cost, ensuring ongoing support as you continue on your health journey.
Please note: Functional Medicine services are out of pocket and not billable to insurance at our clinic. If your insurance plan does have coverage, we can provide a superbill to submit charges for possible reimbursement on your own directly to your insurance. Functional Medicine services are however HSA/FSA eligible for many - please verify with your individual company. After your first appointment, a letter of medical necessity can be written for submission to HSA/FSA companies.
