What to Expect The needles used in acupuncture are approximately the thickness of a human hair. Most patients feel little to no discomfort during treatment and often leave feeling relaxed and refreshed. Appointments typically last about 25 minutes and are frequently combined with chiropractic care to help patients achieve optimal results. Dr. Kelly Thompson, Dr. Jessica Donaldson, Dr. Jayme Moulton, and Dr. Claire Roth Kuntz all provide acupuncture services and would be honored to help you determine whether acupuncture is right for you. |
Acupuncture is a gentle, time-tested therapy that uses extremely thin, sterile needles to stimulate specific points throughout the body. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, these points are located along pathways called meridians through which Qi (vital energy) flows.
Qi can be accessed through more than 350 acupuncture points throughout the body. When Qi flows freely through the meridians, health and balance are maintained. When that flow becomes disrupted, pain, tension, and other health concerns may arise. Acupuncture works to restore the normal flow of Qi by stimulating specific points throughout the body. From a modern perspective, acupuncture may also help regulate the nervous system, improve circulation, reduce inflammation, relieve pain, and support the body's natural healing processes. Most patients find acupuncture relaxing and experience little to no discomfort during treatment. Conditions We Commonly Treat At Thompson Chiropractic, we use acupuncture to support patients experiencing:

Dry Needling
Dry needling is a modern treatment technique used to reduce muscle pain, improve mobility, and restore normal muscle function. It involves inserting very thin, sterile needles into tight or irritated muscles, often called trigger points.
When the needle stimulates a trigger point, the muscle is encouraged to relax and reset, helping reduce tension, improve blood flow, decrease pain, and restore movement.
Unlike acupuncture, which is rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine and focuses on balancing the body's energy systems, dry needling is based on modern anatomy, neuroscience, and musculoskeletal medicine. The treatment targets specific muscles and soft tissues that may be contributing to pain, stiffness, or movement restrictions.
Conditions We Commonly Treat
Dry needling may be helpful for:
Muscle tightness and trigger points
Neck and shoulder pain
Back pain
Sports and overuse injuries
Tendon irritation
Limited mobility and range of motion
Chronic muscle tension
Athletic recovery and performance
What to Expect
The needles used in dry needling are extremely thin and most patients experience little to no discomfort during treatment. Some patients notice a brief muscle twitch followed by a feeling of release within the muscle.
Dry needling is often combined with chiropractic care, rehabilitation exercises, and soft tissue therapies to help patients move better, recover faster, and return to the activities they enjoy. Dr. Mauren Kittock specializes in dry needling and enjoys helping patients overcome pain, improve performance, and restore healthy movement.
