Acupuncture

Qi can be accessed through 350 acupuncture points in the body. As long this energy flows freely throughout the meridians, health is maintained, but once the flow of energy is blocked, the system is disrupted and pain and illness occur. Acupuncture works to restore the normal flow of Qi through the body by stimulating certain points on the different meridians.

Acupuncture is an effective therapy that can be used to treat a wide variety of conditions.  At Thompson Chiropractic we focus on acupuncture techniques for low back pain, neck pain, sciatica, tennis elbow, knee pain, shoulder pain, headaches, jaw pain (TMJ), arthritis, carpal tunnel, plantar fasciitis, sinus pain and many other conditions.

At Thompson Chiropractic we use acupuncture in combination with chiropractic care to provide optimal healing for our patients.  Acupuncture is usually not painful.  A typical treatment session lasts about 25 minutes. Dr. Kelly Thompson and Dr. Jessica Donaldson specialize in acupuncture.

Dry Needling

Dry needling  involves the insertion of thin needles, similar to acupuncture needles, into specific points on the body, known as trigger points or myofascial trigger points. These trigger points are believed to be hyperirritable spots within tight bands of muscle that can cause pain and restrict movement.

Unlike acupuncture, which is rooted in traditional Chinese medicine and aims to rebalance the flow of energy (qi) along meridians in the body, dry needling is based on Western medicine principles. The insertion of the needles is intended to stimulate the underlying tissues, muscles, and nerves to produce a therapeutic effect.  Dr. Mauren Kittock and Dr. Ryan Stottler specialize in dry needling.
